Fire Type Pokemon Strength And Weakness Chart
Fire Type Pokemon
It is known to be one of the three types of starter Pokemon, forming a perfectly triangular relationship with grass and water.
Fire-type attacks are based on fire attacks and most of them can attack that can burn. Even the types of fire are immune to burns, regardless of the type of movement used that would have caused a burn.
Fire Pokémon have significantly fewer species than other Starter types due to the absence of natural phenomena that can be described as fire: the Slugma line, the Numel line, the Magmar line, Torkoal and Volcanion are some of the close representation.
Some Fire species are based on terrestrial animals known for their predatory instincts, such as Pyroar, Arcanine and Heatmor. The Vulpix and Fennekin lineages are based on Japanese folklore combining the species of foxes and fire, while, curiously, the first five generations of fire initiators, as well as the Ponyta, Houndour and Pansear lineages, are based on Chinese Zodiac animals However, there are some Fire-type Pokémon based on inanimate objects, such as the Rotom heat form and the Litwick line.
Among the famous Pokémon Fire-type trainers are Blaine, the seventh Kanto gym leader Flannery, fourth gym leader at Hoenns gym Flint, the third member of the Sinnoh Pokémon League Chile, one of the three main gym leaders from Striaton City to Unova Malva, a member of the Pokémon League of Kalos and Kiawe, a trial captain from the island of Akala in Alola region.
Pokmon Type Chart: Strengths Weaknesses And Effectiveness Explained
Knowing the Pokémon type chart is one of the most important elements to becoming a top trainer. Whether youre new to the series or want to double-check something in an important battle, weve got you covered. After all, memorising all 898 Pokémons weaknesses and resistances is nigh-impossible, so its always worth checking back to be sure your team is in good shape.
A Pokémons type dictates whether it is stronger or weaker against other Pokémon. If youre at an advantage, youll deal super effective damage and if youre weaker, youll do not very effective damage. In some situations, your attack could have no effect whatsoever, so its important to get to grips with the 18 Pokémon types to maximise your damage output.
Whether you are piloting one of the best Pokémon in Pokémon GO, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, or in a Pokémon Sword and Shield ranked match, knowing the Pokémon type chart is one of the biggest factors in winning or losing.
While the Pokémon type chart has remained virtually the same for a few years now, some of the Pokémon worlds spin off games do things differently. Pokémon GO, for example, bends the rules ever so slightly when it comes to type strengths and weaknesses.
Well get onto Pokémon GO later, but for now, lets look at the classic Pokémon type chart from the main series games.

No Concept Of Immunities/no Effect
Every attack in Pokémon GO damages an opposing monster in the mainline games, a small number of type matchups actually result in no damage i.e. immunity, usually with the message X has no effect. These matchups are:
- Normal and Fighting immune to Ghost
- Flying immune to Ground
- Ghost immune to Normal and Fighting
- Fairy immune to Dragon
These special cases still exist in Pokémon GO, however, they do around a third normal damagerather than doing no damage at all. In our type chart, these type immunities are bolded and placed in square brackets. REMEMBER – in the mainline games like Pokémon Sword and Shield, these attacks will have no effect whatsoever!
Pokemon Go Best Great League Team
Mastering the Great League in Pokemon Gos Battle League is harder than you might think, but a team comprising of these Pokemon should take you straight to victory.
Go Battle League is Pokemon Gos PvP mode that allows players to compete with trainers all around the world. Through the course of a season, players can rise through the ranks and earn some sweet rewards along the way.
Its not as simple as taking your most powerful Pokemon into each battle, though. There are three main leagues to compete in Great League, Ultra League, and Master League and each one has its own rules and optimal teams.
The Great League differs from the Ultra League and Master League because of one simple rule: Only Pokemon lower than 1500 CP can enter, which rules out many of the best Pokemon from the competition.
So lets take a look at the best Pokemon to take into the Great League. This is typically the first league of each season, and it usually appears again later down the line, so there are plenty of chances to take part.

Even fully loving Fairy-type Pokémon has its disadvantages as a full Fairy team wont cover their weaknesses well enough. The strongest ones, like the Tapus, Mega-Gardevoir, Mimikyu, or Mega-Mawile, are good choices on a team, but being spoiled for choice isnt always a good thing. Many Fairy-types are just above average in terms of move pools, base stat totals, and versatility. Shiinotic the Grass/Fairy type was added in Gen VII and only has a 405 base stat total the same as many stage 1 Pokémon like Combusken, Haunter, and Prinplup.
Even Pokémon like Hatterene who has a 510 total are limited by a small move pool of mostly Psychic and Fairy moves. Its unfortunate, but not every Pokémon is going to be viable to use. Of course, no one can stop players from using their favorites anyway.

In Pokemon GO, Fairy-type Pokemon are only weak against two other types. Poison and Steel-type Pocket Monsters have a serious type advantage over Fairy Pokemon in battle.
It’s important for Pokemon GO trainers to take note that Fair-types have resistances against Bug, Dragon, Fighting, and Dark-type moves used against them. Therefore it is not recommended to send out one of these types when facing a rival that is a Fairy-type.

The Blade Forme Of Aegislash Sacrifices Defense For Attack
Aegislash and its evolutionary predecessors are the only Pokémon that are Steel/Ghost Type. The defense of Honedge and Doublade, which evolves into Aegislash when exposed to a Dusk Stone, are high. However, when it uses Ability Stance Change during battle and becomes its Blade Forme, carrying its shield in its left arm instead of in front of its blade, its Defense is sacrificed for Attack. What’s more, Aegislash’s Special Defense is lowered by the same amount as its regular Defense when in Blade Forme.

What Are Fairy Type Pokemon Strong Against
Fairy type moves in the Pokemon series are strong against dragon, fighting, and dark Pokemon.
The fairy typing was specifically added to the franchise in order to serve as a check to the numerous dragon-type pseudo legendaries that have proven to be overpowered, such as Dragonite, Salamence, and Hydreigon. Not only are fairy moves strong against dragon Pokemon, but fairy Pokemon are immune to dragon-type moves which is particularly helpful as Outrage and Draco Meteor are among some of the most devastating moves that players can come across.
Alongside being immune to dragon attacks, fairy Pokemon are resistant to fighting, bug, and dark moves. This allows fairy Pokemon to operate in a unique space that lets it have unique interactions with most of the non-elemental types. This is incredibly valuable in the main Pokemon games, as fairy types are resistant to some of the most common moves including Close Combat and U-Turn.
Pokmon Go Type Chart: How To Remember Pokmon Types
For anyone who has invested years of play into this series, the type system becomes second nature. While in time your memory too will retain most of, if not the full set of relationships it is worth learning the logical relationships that do exist.
The classic example taught at the beginning of every Pokémon game is that fire is super effective against grass, which is in turn super effective against water, which is in turn super effective against fire. This is easy enough to follow fire burns grass, grass thrives with water, water puts out fire but finding similar relationships in the other 18 types is will help you remember the system.
Here are some other ideas to get you started:
- Rocks effectiveness against flying is reminiscent of the phrase kill two birds with one stone
- Similarly, psychic is effective against fighting because brains are better than brawn but psychic is vulnerable to dark and ghost because the mind cannot cope with the unknown and supernatural
- Ground types are immune to electric attacks because being grounded is an important principle in electric circuits but ground can be swept away be water, cracked by ice and exploited by grass.

Alolan Diglett Is Stronger Than Regular Diglett But Still Lacks Defense
Alolan Diglett doesn’t fare much better in the Defense stat than its non-Alolan counterpart, Diglett, despite it being a Ground/Steel-Type and stronger, with only 5 more points in defense. As it spends all of its time in the ground, Alolan Diglett is a Ground-Type first, Steel-Type second. Its steeliness is due to the Alolan region, with Diglett needing extra strength to dig through all that volcanic rock.
How This Affects Pokmon With Multiple Types
As I mentioned before, some Pokémon will have multiples types, and this table gets even more tricky to understand once you start looking at how interactions like that work. The good news is there’s a pretty simple way to break it down.
All modifiers for damage by a particular attack are calculated together when it comes to dealing with Pokémon that have multiple types.
For example, if you use a Flying attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do four times as much damage, since Flying attacks usually do double damage to each type.
Following in the pattern, if you were to use a Ground attack against a Pokémon with both Bug and Grass types, it would do 1/4 of the damage, since ground attack normally would do 1/2 damage to each type.

Togedemaru Is A Cute Electricity Hoarder Not Known For Its Defense
The mouse-like Electric/Steel Pokémon Togedemaru’s base Defense stat is its second-worst after Special Attack. Diminutive in stature at only 1’00” tall and weighing in at 7.3 lbs, it is not known to evolve into any other Pokémon, which is a shame because it would be interesting to see a bigger, more elaborate version of Togedemaru. Its strengths lie in its speed and its ability to absorb electricity from other Electric-Type Pokémon.
Durant Is Tough But Has A Major Weakness
Durant is not the only Bug/Steel-Type Pokémon, but it is the only one with an insectoid body. While Durant has a high base Defense stat, its Special Defense is woeful, at less than half that of its physical Defense.

This, of course, leaves it susceptible to special attacks, but any trainer who is aware of Durant’s Achilles’ heel can use that to their advantage. Unfortunately, Durant’s steel armor is nothing in the face of its natural predator, Heatmor. Given Steel’s weakness to Fire, this is a major weakness of the Iron Ant Pokémon.
